Team Stewards gather around Woodland Ave Library
Welcome! I’m Athena, Library Media Specialist and Literacy Steward.
I began my early career in librarianship as the second children’s librarian at the Handley Library. I graduated from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and received an MLIS from the University of Texas at Austin. I have a professional certificate in Book Publishing from the University of Virginia’s Publishing & Communications Institute. It warms my heart to bring something positive to the community during a time of isolation and negativity during COVID-19. I believe libraries build communities, and we’re seeing it.
My favorite book is all of them. I believe you can learn something from every book you pick up!
Hi! I’m Allie, Interim Executive Director at Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area. I have been working with Winchester Little Libraries as part of the Campaign for Grade Level Reading program through Literacy Volunteers for over a year. I’m excited to work with the program on a different level and get lots more books out into the hands of everyone in our community.
My favorite book is “Pride & Predjudice” by Jane Austen.
Salutations! I’m Aimee, a reading advocate who enjoys getting books into children’s hands. My first Children’s Literature class in college really sparked my enthusiasm for picture books snd storytelling. Before settling in The Shenandoah Valley, I worked at libraries in Long Island, then Galveston, TX, followed by the Fairfax County, VA libraries. I also worked 5 years at The Handley Library here in Winchester and enjoyed the programming for children and families at the library, and also in community outreach. When Athena asked me, I jumped at the opportunity to help with the artwork on the Woodland Avenue Little Library. I’m proud to be a part of the Winchester Little Libraries team.
My favorite books are picture books, juvenile fiction and nonfiction, and the occasional biography.
