Interested in learning English? Tutoring for English Language Learners (ELL) provides English language skills to adults at varying levels of learning, from beginning to advanced. Tutors are trained to provide appropriate level language instruction emphasizing all language components – listening, speaking, reading and writing to teach and reinforce learning.
Depending on an individual student’s needs, a tutor may focus on basic vocabulary, conversational skills, verbs and sentence structure, fluency or pronunciation. Some students work on English skills while also studying for their Citizenship test. The tutor and student work together to build a “portfolio” of accomplishments that track successes and highlight the student’s work.
Our ELL program also provides opportunities for learners to participate in small conversation groups, to practice their speaking and comprehension skills in a safe, comfortable environment.
