Winchester Parks & Recreation hosts a fun, caring place for children in grades PreK-6th to spend their after-school hours and summer break.
The Kids Club of Northern Shenandoah Valley
The Kids Club offers a variety of programs, both after school and during the summer, designed to increase academic performance including reading, writing activities, and homework help.
Right at School
The Right At School after school program is a chance to learn, play and grow. Safe and on-site at schools in Winchester, it is a place full of caring educators, new and best friends, and heaps of fun.

Full-Day Summer Programs
basicREC (Frederick County Parks and Recreation)
Camp basicREC is designed to keep your child involved in activities that go on throughout the day, all summer long. Summer days will be filled with special activities, events, group games, playground time, water play, organized sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming, and field trips.
Clarke County Parks and Recreation
Summer Play Camp gives children opportunities to participate in organized, recreational, fun-filled activities throughout the summer, including a variety of age-appropriate sports, nature programs, music, arts and crafts, supervised free play and games.
Eukarya Summer Programs
Day camps offered by Eukarya Christian Academy include specialty camps, athletic camps, and Camp 5:5, a journey through creativity and discovery.

Half-Day Summer Programs
Blue Ridge Wildlife Center Discovery Camp
The Wildlife Discovery Camp is available for children for ages 7-14. Children will learn about Virginia’s native wildlife, habitats, ecosystems, animal tracks and signs, and more.
Camp Follow the Leader
Camp Follow the Leader is a special summer day camp for children ages 6-10 with disabilities and/or physical, sensory, emotional, social and/or developmental challenges. If you have struggled with whether your child would fit in a traditional summer day camp, this may be the camp you’ve been hoping to discover. Camp staff includes Occupational, Physical, and Speech therapists, teachers, volunteers, and counselors trained to provide a supportive, engaging, and rewarding experience for all.
Camp Invention
A confidence-boosting STEM summer camp where kids build creative inventions and lasting friendships. Led by qualified local educators, Camp Invention offers new and exciting hands-on experiences every year. Offered at Bass Hoover Elementary School and Redbud Run Elementary School.
Discovery Museum
The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum’s mission is to spark curiosity & inspire learning through exploration & creative play. The museum offers weekly summer camps
East Coast Gymnastics & Cheer
Camps are open for children ages 3 to 16. A variety of programs are available, such as dance, gymnastics, and ninja warrior.
The Polka Dot Pot
Camps are available for children ages 7 and up. Kids will get messy learning about and creating with clay, create an eye-catching fused glass piece, paint a fun canvas, and paint pottery.
Kids and Cops Camp (Winchester Police Department)
The Winchester Police Department Kids and Cops is a week-long camp that provides local children ages 9-12 with the opportunity to learn about law enforcement and teamwork, form friendships, and have a positive experience.
Summer Activities
Summer Reading Program
Join the Handley Regional Library System for a fun summer of reading! Receive virtual tickets and be eligible for prizes based on books and minutes read. Plus, join the library for story sharing, music, and interactive experiences all summer long in our Youth Summer Reading Program.
