Join Our Team – Make a Lasting Impact with LVWA
At Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area (LVWA), we are a community-based nonprofit committed to empowering individuals and families through education. Our mission is to provide accessible literacy services through classroom instruction, small group sessions, and one-on-one tutoring. We offer support in Adult Basic Education, English Language Learning, Citizenship Preparation, Family Literacy, and many other areas that foster lifelong learning and personal growth.
We believe literacy is a basic human right and a critical tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, securing stable housing, strengthening families and communities, and building sustainable employment opportunities. Without essential literacy skills, adults and their families face significant barriers to achieving their potential as parents, employees, and engaged community members.
At LVWA, we meet students where they are on their educational journeys and provide the tools they need to succeed. Our work is centered on promoting student well-being, personal growth, and academic achievement. We are inspired by Nelson Mandela’s words, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world,” we are dedicated to creating a brighter future through literacy.
