Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area (LVWA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer DeHaven as its new Executive Director, effective immediately. With over a decade of experience in nonprofit leadership, strategic planning and operational management, Ms. DeHaven brings a dynamic vision to LVWA’s mission to provide high-quality literacy instruction to families in the community.
Throughout her career, Ms. DeHaven has been a champion for sustainable growth and community engagement. Her innovative approaches to organizational strategy, community partnerships and advancement have consistently led to measurable outcomes, furthering the missions of organizations she’s served. Ms. DeHaven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a focus on Value, Ethics and the Environment from American University. Along with minors’ studies in Sociology, Biology, Psychology and International Relations.
“Jennifer’s passion for literacy and her exceptional leadership skills make her the ideal choice to lead LVWA into the future,” said LVWA Board Chair Corey Seymour. “We are excited to have her at the helm as we work to expand our programs and address the literacy needs of our community.”

An eighth generation native of Frederick County, Ms. DeHaven is active throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley community as a volunteer and support resource wherever possible. Ms. DeHaven is an artisan, a farmer, a writer and an environmentalist.
