The Winchester City Sheriff’s Office presented an $850 check to the Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area on Monday.
The check presentation was held outside of the 301 N. Cameron Street office.
Winchester City Sheriff Les Taylor said he wanted to give back.
“We wanted to give back,” Sheriff Taylor said. “This organization does such a great work in Winchester with tutoring all ages and helping them read.”
“Deputy Knowles Knows” is a book written by Sheriff Taylor, Mayor Sibert and Deputy Knowles. A portion of each sale from the book is being donated to Literacy Volunteers Winchester Area.
The partnership between the two started a few years ago as an effort to get children to not be afraid of police.
